A Lack of Color
A Lack of Color
The quest in making our master bedroom feel alive again.
Well, hello, hello, hello!
It's truly been a hot minute since I've posted anything, try almost 4 years (YIKES!). I'm not much of a writer and I already knew that when starting this blog, but I guess I thought by starting a blog, it would have changed things and all of a sudden I would just LOVE writing...time has obviously proven otherwise. Anywho! Its the beginning of 2022 and like oh so many, I am inspired to start a new, turn over a new leaf, start a brand new chapter if you will. One of those new chapters involved giving our master bedroom a much needed facelift. As you can see from the photo above, our bedroom though put together, lacks a certain pazzaz and I ulimately decided that what this room was lacking, was color! Bright, beautiful vibrant color! Don't get me wrong, I love all these earth tones, but it all just started to feel so BOOOORRING.
I thought to myself, "You know what this room needs? A sofa!" Not just any old sofa. Oh no, what this bedroom needs is a sofa that packs a punch! Something fun, slightly funky in design and most importantly, something affordable. To make a long boring story short, I ended up finding the perfect little couch on Amazon for only $399. Honestly, the price was quite the steal and almost too good to be true. It's a good thing I pulled the trigger when I did, because this couch went almost immediately out of stock shortly after I purchased it.
While I was waiting for my sofa to arrive, I continued with my quest in bringing more color into our room. I've purchased home goods from Urban Outfitters way back when and I knew they would have something to help complete the look I was going for. After hours of scouring their website, I found success and purchased a set of lovely mustard yellow curtains, a retro looking pillow and a textured, rust colored throw rug. Next stop, IKEA! Honestly, Ikea overwhelmed me and I couldn't get to the damn pillow section fast enough! I picked up two pillow covers ($4.99 each. SCORE!) and while heading to the checkout, I may have snagged a plant as well. Last stop, the thrift store. I was specifically looking for a small side table, because I wasn't about to drop $100+ for one. Guess whaaaat? I found the PERFECT round side table for only $11!! Now that my shopping was done, all I had left to do was wait for things to arrive so I could put everything together.
This bedroom makeover was honestly such a blast and I couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic while putting it all together. The last time I had this much color in my room was when I was 17! Now when we walk into the bedroom, we're instantly greeted with warm colors and patterns. This space feels extremely cozy to us and it feels like happiness and good vibes. What makes me smile even more, is that Calvin really digs it ^_^ We now have the perfect little lounge space for reading, drinking our coffee or working on school work.
Well, that's all I've got for now. If you made it to the end, thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy the photos below and if you have any questions about the design or products used in this space, feel free to ask me any questions. Until next time my friends.
