Affordable Sweater Weather

I think one of the best things about Fall (or Autumn if you prefer) is that you can once again break out all those sweaters you had stored away. I'm not gonna lie, I actually keep several sweaters out all year round just because I'm always cold. Can anyone else relate? A few of my favorite sweaters have come from some of my favorite stores, such as Tjmaxx, Target and H&M. However, buying sweaters new can quickly add up in costs! I'll share this with you, my absolute favorite sweaters, have all come from Goodwill! One of my favorite pastimes is thrifting at my local Goodwill, not only for home decor, but clothes as well. As long as you are really checking the garments for any imperfections such as stains or tears, you can find AMAZING articles of clothing at a thrift store. Many items can be found in new or like new condition.

Recently I was at my local Goodwill specifically looking for hardback books (I used them for a DIY project) I decided to peruse the clothing racks, more specifically through the sweater rack. It's always when I go in not expecting to find anything that I strike gold, because that's exactly what happened! All the articles of clothing I purchased were in like new condition. Some were even from name brand stores, such as GAP, Old Navy and The Limited. Now is the perfect time for you to go to your local thrift store and scope out the sweaters. Though it's now officially Fall, not everyone has sweater weather quite on their minds yet. The racks at the thrift stores right now are full of them! As it gets closer to winter I find the sweaters and even jackets to be severely picked over, so now is the best time to score some really cozy finds. There's absolutely nothing wrong with buying clothing new, but you honestly can find some great pieces for your wardrobe at your local thrift store!

My personal tips on thrifting clothing
______________________________________
  1. Grab a cart!
  2. Never skim the rack, always try and sift through everything! There are always hidden gems waiting to be found.
  3. Always check your garment for any blemishes. This includes stains, tears, holes and funky smells. If it smells  heavily of smoke or moth balls or anything unpleasant for that matter, let it go! Those particular odors are usually there to stay.
  4. This is important and the reason you have a cart. If you find something you like, but you're just not quite sure, throw it in your cart anyway! Trust me, there's nothing worse then almost getting something only to put it back then later see it in someone else's cart. By the end of your thrifting trip, you can decide what stays and what goes.
  5. When it comes to trying clothes on such as tops, I like to throw the item on over what I'm already wearing. If you intentionally go to the thrift store looking for clothing, it's wise to wear a cami. It makes trying things on a lot easier and gives you a better idea of what the item will really look like on.
  6. Run through the racks one more time, just in case you missed a gem.
  7. Start your process of elimination.
  8. Do your inner happy dance, because you just struck gold at your local thrift store!
